There are three versions of roulette available for play at Casino Elegance: French Roulette, Roulette Monte Carlo, and Las Vegas Roulette. French Roulette rules (likewise with its European counterpart Roulette Monte Carlo) require use of a "single zero" wheel, so dubbed because it has a "0" slot but no "00" slot as with Las Vegas Roulette. According to French Roulette rules, the single-zero wheel must have 37 slots labeled 0 through 36. Although the basics of the game are much the same as other roulette versions, French Roulette rules also involve one major difference: the En Prison rule. This interesting rule permits French Roulette players a choice whenever the roulette ball lands on "0." Players can either keep half of their even-money bets or opt to take an all-or-nothing chance on the next spin. (More on this in a moment.) To begin a game, French Roulette rules require that players begin to make their wagers on the roulette layout table. Even once the dealer spins the wheel, players can continue to place bets until the dealer calls "No more bets!" as the wheel begins to slow. Players can put chips in quite a few positions-both in various boxes and on lines between boxes on the layout table-to make what are called inside and outside bets. Players can bet on a variety of outcomes, including the number the ball will land on, the number grouping (column, row), the color of the number, and so on. For more detailed information on inside and outside bets, see French Roulette Betting. At Casino Elegance, the "Spin" button becomes active as soon as the first bet is placed. Note that the "Re-bet" button places the same amount of chips on the same bets you made on the previous spin. Once all desired bets are placed, players click the "Spin" button to start the wheel spinning and the ball moving. As the wheel slows down, the ball begins to fall toward the centre, eventually coming to rest in one of the 37 slots. With the winning number identified, the dealer then settles all bets according to French Roulette rules. You can view result of each spin via the tally board on the right side of your screen. The most recent results show at the bottom. Following French Roulette rules, losing bets are cleared from the roulette table layout and winning bets paid according to the following table: | Roulette Payout Table | | | Inside Bets | Odds Paid | | Straight Up (single number) | 35:1 | | Split (two numbers) | 17:1 | | Row (three numbers) | 11:1 | | Triple (three numbers) | 11:1 | | Corner (four numbers) | 8:1 | | Top Line (First 4 numbers: 0, 1, 2, 3) | 8:1 | | Line (six numbers in two adjacent Rows) | 5:1 | | Outside Bets | Odds Paid | | 1st, 2nd or 3rd Column (12 numbers) | 2:1 | | 1st, 2nd or 3rd Dozen | 2:1 | | Red or Black | 1:1 | | Odd or Even | 1:1 | | Low Half (1-18) or High Half (19-36) | 1:1 |
En Prison Rule When you learn French Roulette rules, you must learn the term En Prison. This rule allows players to keep half their even-money outside bets when the spin result is a Zero (Green 0), or take an all-or-nothing chance on the next spin: - Rule applies when spin result is Zero (Green 0)
- Rule applies only to even-money (1:1 odds) outside bets:
- Red
- Black
- Even
- Odd
- Low (1 - 18)
- High (19 - 36)
For each of these bets, according to French Roulette rules, the player may choose to: - Surrender half the bet to the dealer immediately (and keep the other half), or
- Place the whole bet En Prison where it will await the outcome of the next non-zero spin result.
- Player may Re-Bet or add new bets to the board for the next spin when bets are placed En Prison.
- Bets selected for En Prison are moved to a special area for that bet type (e.g. En Prison block for Red bets).
- If the next result is another Zero, the En Prison bets are held for another spin. If new bets had been placed on even-money bet spots for that spin, then player may choose to surrender them or add them to their respective En Prison blocks.
- The first non-zero spin result will resolve all En Prison bets. Those bets En Prison that match the spin result are returned to the player. Those that do not are surrendered to the house.
