Online Keno

Even if you have never played Keno, you’re probably familiar with this easy-to-play lottery game and the Keno screens announcing the most recent winning numbers. In many casinos, this highly visible and leisurely game often operates 24 hours a day, and today online Keno is a popular game as well.

To play Keno, players take a card or “ticket” showing numbers 1 through 80 and select up to 20 of them, depending on the casino. (Here at Casino Elegance, players choose up to 15.) Players then wait and hope that their choices will match the numbers that are drawn randomly during play.

Whether you’re playing online Keno or in a casino, winnings are based on two things: how many numbers you select as well as how many you hit. The payoff is substantially greater if you choose a larger amount of numbers and hit these. If you choose three numbers and hit all three, you get $30. But if you choose six numbers and only hit three, you break even, winning just $1. But if you were to hit six out of six, your winnings would jump to $500.

When playing in a traditional casino room, Keno players pick their numbers or “spots,” make a wager on a Keno ticket, and either give it to a Keno runner or take it to the betting counter themselves. When the game starts, 80 ping pong-like numbered balls are blown around inside an enclosed bubble or hopper. One by one, 20 of these balls are randomly drawn—these are the winning numbers—and announced to players.

Playing online Keno at Casino Elegance is just a little bit different because we’ve put our own spin on things. First, players purchase a Castle Keno ticket by placing a $1 chip in the circle marked “Place Bets” on the Betting Board. None of the betting options can become active until a ticket is purchased.

Next in online Keno, players try to predict which numbers will be drawn by marking from 1 to 15 of the numbered blocks on the wall. To mark a block, simply click on it with the mouse. The block will change color to indicate it has been marked. As you mark each block, the spots counter at the bottom of the screen will track how many are marked. Please note that it is possible to mark more than 15 spots, but drawing of numbers for the online Keno game cannot begin until you’ve reduced the number of spots to 15 or less. To remove a mark, just click on the block and it will change back to the original color.

There are five betting options in our version of online Keno. Each option requires a certain number of spots to be marked before it becomes active. As you mark spots, the buttons for the options will light up when you have satisfied their requirements.

When you are satisfied with your online Keno number choices, click the desired betting option on the Betting Board to start the game. Twenty rocks will be hurled toward the Castle, striking blocks at random. As each rock smashes a block in the wall, a flag will unfurl to display the corresponding number. When a number you marked on the wall is struck by one of the rocks, it is called a “hit” or “catch.”

After the final rock has found its target, the player is paid according to how many of the rocks hit marked blocks based on the payout table for the chosen betting option. Then the player can choose whether to participate in the next game of online Keno.

A major advantage of online Keno is that the game play occurs much faster than the leisurely Keno of casino rooms. And while there’s a place for both, online Keno affords you the opportunity to play more and therefore win more
