Red Dog Poker Odds

Red Dog Poker odds do not in general favor the player. It's tough to beat Red Dog Poker odds when it's a game of chance that does not offer much in the way of strategy compared to other casino games. However, if you play smart and have a little luck on your side, you can take advantage of Red Dog's payouts:

A 1-card spread pays out at 5 to 1.
A 2-card spread pays out at 4 to 1.
A 3-card spread pays out at 2 to 1.
A 4-card or greater spread pays out at 1 to 1.

Another thing to keep in mind about Red Dog Poker odds is that while the game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards, different casinos use a different number of decks. And, the more decks in use, the lower the house edge. If the casino uses one deck of cards, the house advantage is approximately 3.2 percent. But if it has eight decks of cards in play, the house advantage falls to approximately 2.7 percent. So your Red Dog Poker odds improve when there are more decks in use.

However, and this is important, you can turn Red Dog Poker odds to your advantage by only raising your bet when the spread is seven or greater. When you are facing a one-card spread, the odds are against you that the third card will be the sole value card you can actually use. If, however, the spread is seven or more, there are a lot more cards that can fill that niche. And even though the payout is arguably a lot lower, it is still a 1 to 1 payout—worth your while if you get enough of them.

Because of Red Dog Poker odds, the game does not count among the more popular these days, but it does offer a nice change of pace from other casino card games.
